1. Who We Are
HouseIQ (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website houseiq.com.au and provides AI-powered property intelligence reports for Queensland property buyers. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and disclose it, and how you can access or correct it.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following personal information when you use HouseIQ:
- Identity information: full name
- Contact information: email address and mobile phone number
- Property information: property addresses you search, including suburb, postcode, and state
- Report preferences: purchase purpose (owner-occupier or investment), first home buyer status, property type, and indicative offer price (optional)
- Payment information: payments are processed exclusively by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details. We only retain a Stripe session ID and payment intent ID to confirm payment status.
- Usage information: pages visited, report IDs accessed, and browser/device information collected automatically via standard server logs.
We collect this information directly from you when you submit a report request. We do not collect sensitive information (as defined in the Privacy Act) such as health information, racial or ethnic origin, or political opinions.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to:
- Generate and deliver your HouseIQ property intelligence report
- Send transactional emails — including your report delivery confirmation and, for free tier users, a follow-up email about the paid report features
- Calculate grant eligibility and stamp duty estimates based on the details you provide
- Verify payment status and process refunds where applicable
- Improve our data accuracy and product features
- Comply with legal obligations
If you provide an indicative offer price, this information is used solely to calculate threshold proximity warnings and grant eligibility for your report. We may use offer price data in aggregate and anonymised form to improve our analytics — we will never disclose individual offer prices to any third party, including property sellers, agents, or other buyers.
We will not use your information for direct marketing beyond HouseIQ’s own services without your consent. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Disclosure to Third Parties
We disclose your personal information to the following third-party service providers only to the extent necessary to operate HouseIQ:
- Stripe (stripe.com):processes all payments. Stripe’s privacy policy applies to payment data. See stripe.com/au/privacy.
- Resend (resend.com): delivers transactional emails on our behalf. Your email address is transmitted to Resend for this purpose.
- Google Maps Platform: converts property addresses to geographic coordinates (geocoding). No personally identifiable information beyond the property address is transmitted to Google.
- Vercel (vercel.com): hosts the HouseIQ application. Server logs including IP addresses are processed by Vercel infrastructure.
We do not disclose your personal information to any other third parties, except where required by law or with your explicit consent.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your report data and personal information are stored on secure cloud infrastructure operated by Vercel in the Sydney region (syd1). We implement reasonable technical and organisational security measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, use, or disclosure.
Report URLs are long unique identifiers. While they do not require a login to access, they are designed to be practically unguessable. You should treat your report URL as you would any sensitive link — do not share it with people you do not trust.
No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure. While we take all reasonable steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Retention
We retain your personal information and report data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our services and comply with our legal obligations. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at the address below.
7. Accessing and Correcting Your Information
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to request access to personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date.
To make an access or correction request, contact us at privacy@houseiq.com.au. We will respond within 30 days.
We will not charge a fee for making an access request, but may charge a reasonable fee to cover the cost of providing access where requests are complex or numerous.
8. Complaints
If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, you may lodge a complaint with us at privacy@houseiq.com.au. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate your complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at houseiq.com.au/privacy. We will notify you of material changes by email if we hold your email address.
